little girl, big trees

This is my first (and sadly my last) ulitimate hiking experience here in Vancouver. Ultimate, sans the heavy gear and proper footwear.

Somewhere in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver

White Rock

My friend decided to drag me along on a mini road trip to White Rock and we spent the relatively warm fall afternoon taking photos, eating paella (among many other things), drinking matcha lattes and just getting lost.
There really was a huge white rock!

the gate's clean!

That's probably the next best thing after "it's a wrap!"

I was quite pleased with the shiner I put on the lead's mouth. All without force of course.

Main Street

After three, tiring weeks of school, I decided to reward myself with a nice stroll along Main Street. A good 30 or so blocks of this long stretch are peppered with vintage and consignment stores, produce markets, clothing stores featuring independent designers, old book and vinyl stores and such.

The thought of the black baby romper with "I got my mind on my mommy and my mommy on my mind" printed on it still elicits a few giggles. I was so tempted to get it for my niece but I am certain that dressing her up like a gangsta Wednesday Adams would not please my sister at all.

I have sand in my shoes but I'm not complaining

We were at sunset beach the other day and I regret not taking photos when the sun was still peeking out of the horizon.

The beach is very aptly named, wouldn't you say?

ooohh, shiny! (of a different kind)

Now these are the shiny things I like:

Now you're in luck, because a little birdie told me that The Carat Crew will be on sale from the 23rd to the 27th of September. Take a look at more of their yummy stuff at Cityland, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati, Philippines.

oooh, shiny!

If there's one part of downtown that I particularly like, it's Gastown. With maple leaves strewn prettily on the cobblestone streets, swan-neck lamps and the old brick buildings, it's as if these few blocks decided amongst themselves to stay exactly as they were 50 years ago.

While running a few errands near this area the other day, I chanced upon a vintage car show. I am certainly not a car enthusiast like the boyfriend (who was slightly appalled when I compared the carefully kept beauties to m&m's --- shiny, colorful, happy) but I did remember to whip out my camera for a few photos.

I'll have to admit that I did have a grand time snapping away, but please don't tell him I said that.

In other news, is it just me or has the air become nippy? I cannot believe it is fall again and that I am going back home in a month. No more coats and scarves and shivering in bus stops, hooray!
